Calabria is a region in the southern part of Italy which has about
800km.
of
coastline between the Tyrrhenian and the Ionic Sea. 50% of its territory
is divided between hills and mountains and only 10% of plains. Calabria
has pretty high points in Sila and Aspromonte which reach 2267 m.on
Monte Pollino. The capital city of the region is Catanzaro and the other
most important cities are Reggio di Calabria, Lamezia Terme, Cosenza,
Vibo Valentia and Crotone.

The wonderful natural beauties help this region in tourist sector, in fact this field is in continuous ascent as far as yearly number of visits and its coasts offer sights of extreme beauty and receptive structures which improve constantly.
Industry is not the main resource of this region, it exists in minor part in the food sector and in the engineering industry, paper and chemical sectors, despite Gioia Tauro is one of the Italian ports with most traffic of goods. Calabria is one of those regions that in the past had an important migratory flux and throughout the years about 600.000 people left to search for a better future and work elsewhere. This phenomenon seems to have come to a halt thanks to the improvement of the economic conditions and increased possibilities to find a job.
Agriculture for Calabria is still one of the most important sectors, in fact citruses, grains, various types of vegetables, sugar beets, olives and wine grapes are cultivated in its territory.
