Emilia Romagna is a region located in the northern
part of Italy.
The territory is mostly plain, although the region also
has a good deal of mountains and on the eastern side it confines with
the Adriatic Sea. The capital city of the region is Bologna, whereas the
other capital cities are: Modena, Ravenna, Parma, Reggio nell'Emilia,
Ferrara, Rimini and Forlì. The provinces of Romagna are: Bologna -
Ferrara - Forli/Cesena - Modena - Parma - Piacenza - Ravenna - Reggio
Emilia - Rimini.

Tourism is the main source of income in Emilia Romagna, being one of the most visited Italian regions during the summer months thanks to its long beaches. The Adriatic Coast endows tourists with one of the most complete offers as far as hospitality and entertainment are concerned: it provides many Hotels and inns of every category (from two-stars to five-stars).
There are several attractions where one can have fun and be well entertained, such as discotheques, pubs, restaurants and water parks. There are also all types of schools: parachuting, skin diving, water skiing, sailing and windsurfing. The main tourist resorts of the Romagna coast are: Rimini, Cattolica, Cesenatico, Gatteo mare, Misano Adriatico, Bellaria Igea Marina.
The Rimini Fair is becoming more and more important as time goes by. Being active and equipped with modern infrastructures, it provides the whole area with a stable abundance of tourists at all times of the year, keeping itself animated and active, full of initiatives and expos for every sector, varying from fitness to food.
The hard-working Emilia Romagna has many businesses throughout its territory. These belong to all economic fields, going from clothing to food, construction, interior design and all those businesses regarding the tourist field, which is the main source of income of the Adriatic Coast, giving occupation to many companies of all sectors.
In Emilia Romagna there are a conspicuous amount of engineering industries specialized in traditional mechanics, which employ over 200.000 experts. One of these sectors is the manufacturing of precision instruments, and also farming machines and machines of all sorts to work wood, ceramics and textiles. One must necessarily mention the dairy industry, such as Parmigiano Reggiano (Parmesan cheese), main ingredient of the Italian cuisine and also the dough and pastry industries. The motor industry must also be mentioned, with the world-known Ferrari of Maranello, which makes every Italian proud.
Emilia Romagna has a very good agricultural production and its main cultivations are: cereal, vegetables, potatoes, fruit, sugar beets and wine grapes. Emilia Romagna is well-known throughout Italy for its production of fresh fruit -especially in the summer months - like peaches, apricots, plums and its variety of fresh vegetables like lettuce, tomatoes, string beans etc. which supply the regional and national markets. Breeding of poultry, pork and cattle is also very important.
