Located in the north-western part of the peninsula, Piedmont is one of the largest Italian regions.Cartina della regione Piemonte It is surrounded by the Alps and its territory is almost half mountainous and about 40% hilly, the rest are plains. The highest tops of this region reach 4634 m. with Mount Rosa, but there are also other mountains which reach great heights, such as the Gran Paradiso. The quantity of mountains give origin to a good presence of important rivers, to mention a few: the Po, Tanaro, Dora Baltea and the Ticino.

In Piemonte there is also one of the largest lakes in Italy, the Major Lake. The capital city of the region is Turin, whereas the other provinces are: Cuneo, Vercelli, Novara, Alessandria, Asti, Verbano-Cusio-Ossola.

Tourism in Piedmont is well developed thanks to the countless mountain resorts such as the Sestriere, Sauze d'Oulx, Macugnaga, Pragelato, Claviere, Limone, Bardonecchia and many more.

A good percentage of tourism is related to the cuisine and the so-called wine and food routes, since Piemonte disposes of traditional areas such as Langhe and the area of Alba, extremely visited during the white truffle period. In these same areas the excellent wines of Piemonte, loved and greatly demanded by wine intenders, are produced: the Barbera d'Alba, Nebbiolo delle Langhe, Grignolino, Dolcetto d'Alba and the Barolo are just some of these.

Industry nel Piedmont.

Industry in Piemonte is very energetic and it reaches high quality standards. We must not forget to mention the automobile industry with FIAT and the mechanical one directly related to it. The fabric industry is also very important.

Agriculture in Piedmont.

Agriculture in Piedmont is well developed and it is assorted; the most grown crops are those of different varieties of cereals and rice, besides wheat and corn, vegetables of all sorts, fruit and sugar beets. Poplar trees are also grown to be used for wood.
