Industry in Sicily.

The Sicilian industry is concentrated on extractive activities such as salt mines and salterns; there are also some petrol deposits which brought an increase of industries connected with its extraction and refinement. In addition there are some food industries.

Agriculture in Sicily.

Sicilian agriculture is mainly developed on the coast plains and because of the favourable climate of the region, the growth of many agricultural products such as citruses, vegetables, olives and wine grapes is favoured. In the last year there has been a good impulse and investments for the production of good wines such as the Moscato of Pantelleria, the Moscato of Siracuse and the famous Marsala wine. There are also fig crops and cultivations of dried fruits such as great quality almonds. Breeding is present although it's not really developed because of the short supply of forage, whereas fishing is very prominent, especially in the areas of Mazara del Vallo and Sciacca.
