Tuscany (Toscana) is a region located in the centre
of Italy. The territory of
this region is mostly characterized by hills
and it confines with two seas, the Ligurian Sea and Tyrrhenian Sea. The
region of Tuscany is 22.997 Kmē long, there are 3.516.000 inhabitants
with a living density of 153 per. per Kmē.

There are also many islands in the territory of Tuscany the largest being the Elba island, which is an important tourist resort. The capital city of the region is Florence, famous for its history and artistic beauties which attract visitors from all over the world.

The Tuscany region confines with the following regions: Liguria, Emilia Romagna, Marche, l'Umbria and Lazio. The provinces of Tuscany are: Arezzo - Firenze - Grosseto - Livorno - Lucca - Massa - Pisa - Pistoia - Prato - Siena.
Besides tourism Tuscany has a good variety of industrial businesses which work in fields such as clothing, food farming, shoes, leather, paper, ceramics, garden centres, marble, furniture, gold, port, textile, glass, construction and new technologies.
Agriculture in Tuscany is well developed and the variety of its territory favours the growth of many types of products. It is primarily hilly, favouring the cultivation of olives from which one of the best extra virgin oils of the world is produced, besides grain and fruit crops and vineyards which, as we all know, produce famous and collected wines.
Garden centres and beekeeping are also quite active in this territory, moreover bovine and pork breeding are also practiced.
