Il Palio in Badia Tedalda. This is held during the third week of August in our local town and involves a lot of eating and drinking and dancing.

It is held over three days and commences at midnight of the first day with a medieval fair complete with stiltwalkers, jugglers and comedians.

The climax of Il Palio is a type of jousting competition in the main street where riders, at full gallop, attempt to pierce with a lance a series of rings suspended from a post and which gradually decrease in size.

The final night is a celebratory dinner and dance in a nearby town square with wine provided free!
